Camp Jane Celebrates the Spirit of Play with the Kids of Alys Beach

This summer, our Alys Beach kids camp launched to a very special audience— the children of our Alys Beach homeowners and vacation rental guests. Camp Jane is named for Jane Comer, daughter of Alys Beach’ s namesake, Alys Stephens, and founder, Elton B. Stephens— an advocate for the arts, for creative exploration, for children, and a woman whose curiosity for life and endlessly generous spirit continue to lift people in her Birmingham community and beyond.
Camp Jane aims to provide connection for our young community( ages 5-12), to build friendships on days spent exploring with thoughtful programming shaped by curiosity, creativity, nature-based discovery, and outdoor play. Campers move through Alys Beach,
amongst the pedestrian paths and green spaces, along the beach, and at The Silva, learning as they play.
Some of the comments heard by the Camp Jane team this summer included:“ I wasn’ t here yesterday but I wish I was.”“ My favorite part of the day was everything.”“ Mom, I made a new friend today.” We’ ve all truly enjoyed seeing the joy and energy that Camp Jane has brought to our Alys Beach families.
